Student of the Month / Year

Fremont County Area High Schools

Two MCL Members presenting Student of the Month Award to a studentThe Royal Gorge Marine Corps League Detachment is proud to celebrate the achievements and aspirations of young individuals in our community through our esteemed Marine Corps League Student of the Month / Year program.

This initiative is designed to recognize and honor outstanding high school students from the Fremont County, Colorado area who exemplify academic excellence, leadership, character, and a commitment to service.

Under the dedicated coordination of Jimmie Woodard, we work closely with counselors from each participating high school to identify and celebrate students who stand out for their achievements and contributions to their schools and communities. This program is a testament to our commitment to fostering the values of citizenship, community service, and patriotic volunteerism among the youth of our nation.

Each month, a student is selected from nominations provided by their school counselors to be honored as the Student of the Month. These exceptional students are recognized for their hard work, dedication, and the positive impact they make in their schools and beyond.

The culmination of this program is the selection of the Student of the Year, a distinction that recognizes the most outstanding student among the monthly winners for their overall achievements and contributions throughout the year.

Recognizing Local Future Leaders

The Student of the Month/Year program is not just an award; it is an opportunity for us to engage with the future leaders of our community and to encourage them to continue striving for excellence in all their endeavors. It serves as a reminder of the importance of education, leadership, and community service in shaping a better future for all.

We invite schools, students, and the community to join us in celebrating the achievements of these remarkable young individuals. Through this program, we hope to inspire others to reach their full potential and to make a positive difference in the world around them.
